Design and Control Applied to an Extractive Distillation Column with Salt for the Production of Bioethanol

Extractive distillation with salts, unlike other dehydration technologies, is better due to the null toxicity that exists in distillate, since salt cannot be evaporated. With this technology, it possible obtain a high concentration of ethanol, however, there are still problems control columns presence disturbances. The present work deals simulation and an extractive column using CaCl2 as separating agent, for which Aspen Dynamics® simulator used. measurement ethanol composition carried out by means temperature, addition, four structures evaluated compared. These L, D, LV, DV, most common conventional distillation, their performance measured deterministic indicators applying changes (disturbances) flow rate main feed column. relevant results lead fact controller, maintain desired purity above international standards (99% ethanol) govern biofuels.
